REINAUER CORPORATE PROFILE
Over
Eighty Years has seen the transformation from the aspirations of
a self-made mans idea of petroleum transportation with a small converted fishing
vessel to a fleet of more than 75 vessels transiting the waters of the East Coast and up
on into the Great Lakes. The company has mushroomed from its limited service of a 13,000
gallon tanker transiting the local waters of New Jersey to the 149,000 barrel barge
complimented by 30 petroleum barges with a total carrying capacity of over 1.5 million
barrels of product.
The Reinauer Maritime Group is headquartered in both Staten Island,
New York and East Boston, Massachusetts. The offices operate on a 24-hour a day basis for
365 days a year and employs 450 people on staff and seagoing mariners. The combined
offices of Reinauer Transportation Companies and Boston
Towing & Transportation have continually demonstrated their
ability to move forward into each new decade with continued growth through acquisition.
During the past twenty years opportunities have developed, which enabled the two companies
to capitalize by acquiring either entire fleets of tugs and/or barges or select vessels
that will adapt to a particular market need. The new millennium has brought the newly
constructed articulated tug barge unit (ATB), Tug Nicole
Leigh Reinauer & Barge RTC 135, to the fleet. It is powered with
7,200 horses and coupled with a 135,000-barrel double-hulled barge. In 1992 Erie Basin Bargeport was acquired in New
York Harbor, offering 85 acres of waterfront property with 56 of those acres serving as
sheltered waters. The barges are powered through the vario us waterways by a fleet of 30 tugboats ranging in horsepower from 1,200 on up to the
7,200 horsepower tug. Petroleum transportation is not the exclusive employment for the tug
fleet as Boston Towing & Transportation
reigns as the premier ship docking company for Boston Harbor. Boston
Towing & Transportation demonstrated this ability by safely
sailing and returning the U.S.S. Constitution, Old Ironsides, to sea during the summer of
1997. Additionally, Marine Construction Divisions have evolved out of both New York (est.
1986) & Boston headquarters into respected entities with a wide range of capabilities.
1998 saw the establishment of REICON,
which has developed into a significant Marine Construction subsidiary of Reinauer Transportation.
The automation of the fleet continues with a major investment in state of the art
operations and tracking transportation system that enables the customer to access and
query product movement on-line at REINAUER.com. Customers can
the track progress of their voyages and histories of customer specific history.
The dynamic resourcefulness and inventiveness of RTCs early history has stayed with the company throughout its
80 plus
years. The Reinauer Maritime Group
makes a combined contribution to Maritime Heritage, which is its constant pride in
their service and their fleet.
